Usability Testing Scenario

Introduction

To find out how easy the tool is to use and if there are any functionalities missing, I did user tests with the endusers. The first round of user tests was done with two clients of iO: IGM and Prominent.

Abstract

For the user tests, I setup a scenario that the user had to go through, this scenario made sure that all the features of the application were used. After this scenario I asked a list of questions regarding the scenario and tool.

User Test #1

The first user test was done with Jordi ter Woord from IGM.

Most things went smoothly for Jordi, but he had some suggestions. He wanted a way to create, save, and change templates. He also suggested having bulk selection options when adding products. Lastly Jordi said he needed more control over the image generation.

Jordi found the tool easy to use but said it needed options for customizing templates and editing images. He also suggested making the publishing of pages work with various CMS platforms.

Quick Overview

First Impressions

  • The tool was easy to use and user friendly, especially for someone familiar with AI.
  • Logical flow for selecting options like templates, generating images, and setting the tone of voice.

UX Improvements

  • Suggested an improvement for product selection as you could only select a product by specifically clicking the checkbox. Instead it might be easier to make the whole product item clickable.
  • Also suggested adding bulk selection for products.

Feature Requests

  • A way to create, add and edit templates.
  • More control over image generation similar to how text can be edited.
  • Bulk generation of pages for different keywords or product variations.
  • The ability to publish a page to CMS platforms.

User Test #2

The second user test was done with Bart Verdouw from Prominent.

This test too went relatively smoothly and for the most part things were pretty straightforward. However there was one specific thing that was difficult for Bart. Everything was going fine up until the point where he had to edit a specific section of the page. Bart had a hard time figuring out how to make edits to a section. He wasn't sure how and where to put in the prompt.

Quick Overview

First Impressions

  • Bart was curious about its integration with Storyblok as this was not in the scenario.
  • The interface was found to be user friendly but needed some improvements.

UX Improvements

  • Editing sections was not straightforward and Bart struggled with this task.
  • The ability to move sections around for better layout control.
  • Easy identification and modification of header tags (H1, H2, etc.).

Feature Requests

  • The ability to link specific buttons to desired URLs.
  • A feature to allow the use of your own images instead of just generated ones.
  • The ability to see how pages look on different screen sizes.
  • The ability to add forms.
  • The ability to export the page to Storyblok.

Conclusion

After doing user tests with Jordi from IGM and Bart from Prominent, it's clear that even though the tool is overall user friendly and easy to navigate, there are areas that still need improvement. The most important improvement is to make it clearer how to edit a specific section as it was quite difficult for Bart to complete that task. The suggested features from these user tests will either be implemented or added to the advice report, depending on the size of the feature and the time left for the project.
