Usability Testing Scenario

Introduction

To make sure the final version of the proof of concept was user friendly, I did two more user tests. With these tests I wanted to validate the user experience and gather feedback for potential improvements.

Abstract

User Test #1

This first user test was done with Anouk Wendling from iO.

Anouk found the tool basic but effective, which she saw as a positive because it minimizes distractions. She liked the design of the generated page and compared it to a well made WordPress template. Anouk had no issues completing the tasks and found the tool easy to use.

Quick Overview

First Impressions

  • The tool was user friendly and intuitive.
  • The options were clearly laid out and helped Anouk through the scenario.

UX Improvements

  • Anouk suggested having a preview or example of what each tone of voice option looks like.
  • She also mentioned the need for the ability to add her own photos to the generated content.

Feature Requests

  • A preview of different tone of voice options to understand their impact.
  • The ability to add custom photos, especially for specific brand needs.

User Test #2

The second user test was done with Wieke van Ditshuizen from iO.

Wieke found the tool mostly clear and user friendly but had a few suggestions for improvements like better integration with CMS platforms. She, unlike Anouk, was not really a fan of the generated page because in the scenario the example page was about a Watch Sale which is not something iO would have.

Quick Overview

First Impressions

  • The tool was generally clear and user friendly.
  • Wieke found the layout on the left side quite clear but missed some preview options for templates.

UX Improvements

  • Suggested replacing the "enable" switch with buttons for enabling integrations.
  • Editing sections in the edit mode felt too much when doing very basic tasks and suggested also being able to do directly edit text without prompts.

Feature Requests

  • Adding more CMS related features like metadata, slug editing, and OG images.
  • Providing more control over the layout like dragging and dropping sections.
  • The ability to specify the primary goal of a page (e.g., sales, event registration) to help the AI in creating more targeted content.

Conclusion

These user tests validated that the interface is really easy and straightforward to use. Both Anouk and Wieke found the tool user friendly, though they had different perspectives on its features and design. Anouk liked the simplicity and effectiveness, while Wieke saw potential for more advanced integrations. Their feedback gave me several areas for improvement like adding preview options for different tones of voice, enabling custom photo uploads, and adding more CMS related features. These suggestions are very useful for improving the tool further.
